NARST Graduate Student Events at the 2021 Annual International Conference

Author: Christa Haverly, Graduate Student Coordinator

We missed seeing all of you last year when our annual conference was canceled, but we are really looking forward to this year’s virtual conference! Our committee is hard at work planning for programming to engage you in the 2021 conference. Don’t forget to register before the early-bird deadline (March 7), and please mark your calendars to join us at our events!

Dozens of people milling about a room with research posters propped on tables.

Wednesday, April 7, 1:45-3:15 EST – Graduate Student Research Symposium

At this poster session, 18 graduate students will be presenting posters of their research-in-progress. Each graduate student was paired with a mentor in the field for feedback on their work. Come and engage your peers in conversations about research!

Several people seated in a semi-circle with one woman talking and others listening.

Wednesday, April 7, 3:30-5:00 EST – Graduate Student Forum

This annual event regularly attracts over 100 participants when we meet in person, and we hope to get a great crowd this year too! Come join in a couple roundtables on topics related to life as a graduate student and early career scholar.

Wednesday, April 7, 6:00-8:00 EST – Committee Meetings

Committee meetings are happening a bit differently this year, so check the program carefully! Our committee will be meeting from 7-8pm EST on April 7, but during the hour of 6-7pm, you’ll be able to ‘browse’ several of the committees to meet committee leaders and learn all about their work. Stop by our committee and get to know us too! Then, feel free to join us for our business meeting. We can always use more volunteers to help with our planning year-round!

Date and Time TBD (but not April 7!!) – Graduate Student Social

Stay tuned to your email for more information on our Graduate Student Social for this year. We are planning something great for you to meet and network with your peers!
